Background Info on Presidency (Did you know...)

Did you know....

-that one term of office for the President is 4 years
-Franklin Delano Roosevelt set the standards for serving only 2 terms (before you could serve as many terms as you liked)
-Franklin Delano Roosevelt was also the first president to serve more then 2 terms
-Amendment 22 is the official document that limits the amount of terms to 2
-policies are general plans on how the government will deal with important issues such as pollution, energy, the economy, and interactions with other countries
-some of the president's jobs are nominating Supreme Court Judges, appointing foreign ambassadors, and making treaties with other countries

Feelings on Amendment 22
I personally like Amendment 22. I like it because it makes sure that no one President can seem to be over controlling (we need new blood every few years in our government) and Presidency ages the President very quickly with all the stress and issues so I think that 8 years is enough time to have to deal with the burdens of Presidency.

Requirements for President

The constitution requires that to be President you must be a natural born citizen (I was born in Washington, DC), be at least 35 years of age (I'm 63), and have lived in the United States for the past 14 years (I have lived here since I was born). Obviously I fit all of the requirements that the constitution requires I fit, but the real question is do I fit the people's requirements. The people of America deserve a president who is friendly, honest, appealing, smart, experienced, knowledgeable, and up to date. I have done well in the past with my campaigns for Representative, Senator, as well as Vice President. Therefore I believe that I fit the people's requirements, but would like to give the people the President they deserve which is the most qualified and best President ever because the people of America are sensational.

The Job of a President

The President is the head of the Executive Branch. He spends the majority of his time working on new policies, but he does have the Presidential Cabinet to help him with dealing with all these important issues. Policies may be the main job but they are in no way the only job that the President has to deal with. He also is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The President is also in charge of nominating Supreme Court Judges and federal judges which is very important since Supreme Court Judges rule for life. The President must also choose foreign ambassadors, make treaties with other countries, and conduct foreign relations. On top of all of this he must give the annual State of the Union Address to Congress and in general represent the United States of America as our brave and fearless leader. I am prepared to do all of this and I have the experience from countless years of working in government and being a Vice President for eight years. I have carefully watched Bill Clinton be President and I am convinced that I will be a great President.
